CASE STUDY: Greetings From Queertown: Orlando Documentary
A landmark documentary honoring Orlando’s queer history and resilience.
The Story
Greetings from Queertown Orlando is a feature documentary directed by Jess Keller and produced by Industry Collective founder Tiona Langley during her time working alongside another production company. The film traces Orlando’s LGBTQ+ history from the 1960s through Pulse to present day.
The Challenge
Documenting a community’s history that had long lived undocumented — while navigating collective grief and trust — required care, collaboration, and authenticity.
Our Approach
Tiona led local creative, activist, and production teams to capture first-person narratives, rare archival footage, and community stories. The film was sponsored by Watermark, Florida’s LGBTQ+ publication.
The Results
The film premiered at the 2023 Florida Film Festival with 3 sold-out screenings, earning the Audience Award for Best Documentary Feature. Each screening featured a panel and Q&A with filmmakers and community leaders, deepening dialogue around queer history and resilience.
