Case Study: Krystal Cantu x Self Magazine x On Running

Line produced a cinematic short film for Self x On Running, telling an inspirational story of resilience in a one-day, multi-location shoot.

The Story

Self Magazine, in partnership with On Running, produced a cinematic short film spotlighting CrossFit athlete and motivational figure Krystal Cantu. After surviving a life-altering car accident and becoming an amputee, Krystal rebuilt her life and career, becoming a symbol of resilience within the fitness world. The video accompanied a sponsored article on Self’s platform.

The Challenge

The production had a single-day shoot schedule across multiple South Florida locations, a lean crew, and a high-profile subject with a sensitive personal story. An on-the-day crew illness required fast problem-solving, and Krystal’s recounting of her accident demanded privacy and an empathetic on-set environment.

Our Approach

Industry Collective’s Tiona Langley was brought on as Line Producer to manage on-the-ground logistics, crew coordination, and location management. She secured and led a tight, skilled team across dynamic locations including Krystal’s home, gym, and surrounding outdoor areas. Tiona collaborated closely with the Self editorial team to ensure the production maintained its cinematic, inspirational tone while honoring the subject’s comfort and boundaries.

The Results

The 6-minute short film was featured within a sponsored article on Self.com as part of a national campaign for On Running. The piece was praised for its beautiful cinematography and honest, human-centered storytelling.
